COOKING WITH HIMALAYAN SALT CHEF PRODUCTS

SEASONING HSC PRODUCTS FOR COOKING USE

This process of seasoning or curing will allow the salt to gently absorb the heat and expand to prevent cracking. Start out by placing the utility plate or brick in a 200° F oven for 10 minutes, gradually increase the heat in increments of 100° F and repeat the process 2 more times. Turn the oven off and allow the HSC cook ware to remain in the oven until it is completely cool the touch.


BAKING or ROASTING


The recommended method of cooking on HSC products is the oven. Heat to the desired temperature with HSC cook ware in the oven during the preheat cycle. It is best to place in a pan or baking sheet to catch any juices. Heat for 30 minutes to the desired temperature.

 

 

GRILLING


If using a gas, charcoal or electric grill, do not close grill cover while preheating or cooking. Place the HSC salt cook ware onto heavy gauge aluminum foil directly on the grill grates and allow to heat 15-20 minutes per side before cooking. For quicker grilling , HSC products may be preheated in the oven.

STOVETOP


For gas or electric stoves you want a ˝” barrier between the heating element and the salt plate(s). You can either place the salt plates inside a pan or you can use a wok ring and set the plate on top. Set the temperature on high and allow 20 minutes on each side to thoroughly heat the plates.

CLEANING


Allow the cook ware to cool completely before cleaning. Rinse under warm water and clean with a stainless steel scrub pad. Do not use soap to clean HSC products/don’t store HSC products wet. Allow to dry for 24 hours before the next use.HSC products are 100% salt and they may become cracked, chipped or even break. Make sure that you don’t throw these pieces away as you can use them in a variety of ways. From a relaxing salt bath to grinding the broken pieces in a salt mill, HSC products are completely recyclable.

 

USES AND SUGGESTIONS

 

TUSCAN SUNNY-SIDE EGGS


Here is a great idea for that Sunday morning breakfast. Cook 2 sunny side eggs on your HSC utility plate until the desired doneness and top with balsamic viniger and basil marinated cherry tomatoes.

HSC BRICK PRESS METHOD


Use your HSC baking bricks for pressing a Cornish Game Hen. This method is fantastic for tenderizing and imparting the marinade deep into the meat plus you get an incredible crispy skin! All you need for this simple dish is your oven or grill, your favorite marinade, a Cornish Game Hen and HSC.

 

 

CURING


Use HSC to “cure” salmon right before your eyes. Simply lay some thin slices of salmon onto your chilled HSC plate and watch as the edges begin to cure. You will only need a few seconds on each side. Enjoy with some toast points, cream cheese and fresh chives.

 

EDAMAME SOY BEANS


Warm the HSC bowl in the oven to keep the Edamame warm as you enjoy this healthy snack. Cook soy beans per package instructions.Try squeezing fresh lime juice for a unique twist to this Japanese classic.

 

SUSHI


Use HSC plates for a unique presentation base for sushi. This is a surefire way to impress your guests. For a healthier twist, try rubbing the sushi onto the salt instead of using soy sauce.

BUTTER DISH


This is a great way to give everyone at the table what they want. Simply chill a small salt slab or utility plate and place unsalted butter directly on the salt ware. Those who want more salt can slice butter from the bottom and for less salt take from the top. Who would have thought it could be this easy!
